Russell Fire Dept - Press Release Oct 1, 2008

RUSSELL (October 1, 2008) – In anticipation of Fire Prevention Week, the Russell Fire Department is announcing an initiative that we hope will help the families of Russell be better prepared with regards to fire safety. The fire department is offering to visit people’s homes to assess their current fire safety status, upon reviewing the home a written recommendation will be given to the family to help them be better protected. This is also a wonderful way for fire escape plans to be reviewed or organized with a firefighter. If fire code violations are found during these visits, no fines will be issued as we do not want to discourage people who are trying to improve fire safety within their homes.

This program is being offered to all residents that are situated within the fire jurisdiction of the Russell Fire Department. Appointments will be taken during the month of October beginning on October 6, 2008. If you would like to arrange an appointment please call the Russell Fire Department at 613-445-3326 and leave your name, address and phone number. Visits will commence October 27, 2008 and run into November.
